In 2004, five executives decided to enter the fascinating world of the wine industry. Taking into consideration Argentina's growing importance as a producer of high quality wines, they chose a Finca of 70 hectares in the Mendoza region, in Alto Agrelo, Luján de Cujo, that had already been dedicated to cultivating Malbec grapes, the emblematic grape of the region, as well as Cabernet Sauvignon, the red wine grape with the widest international recognition.
They combined their ample experience achieved during their professional careers, especially their capacities to belong to and actively participate in international business, specifically the financial, legal, commercial and administrative spheres. Last but not least, they possessed a collective knowledge of wine that was extensive and shared enjoying wine as a part of their lives and lifestyles.
This is how the Finca Otaviano was born as a winemaking enterprise dedicated to producing high quality wines
through the careful work in its vineyards.
The exceptional geographical characteristics of the region are complemented by the highly technical cultivation of the vineyards, applying the most efficient system of irrigation and vineyard training systems. Our control of cultivating and regulation of pruning, thinning and cutting of foliage allows us to achieve a balanced production of high quality grapes which are harvested manually at the most favorable moment.
The agronomic engineer and oenologist coordinate their work and are at the moment beginning to design wines with special characteristics and unique identities. It is essential to take these steps in order to achieve our objective to produce small quantities of exceptional wines. Recently, one of our partners, Euclides Penedo Borges, was nominated the President of the Brazilian Association of Sommeliers from Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.
